Listen closely because I am going to tell you a very juicy secret. Are you ready? Valentine’s Day isn’t about one type of love. Romantic love is special and valuable, but it’s not the only type of love that exists. Self-love is the most important and most rewarding type there is. I want to show you some ways you can love yourself this V-DAY! <3

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others:

You know they say that comparison is the thief of joy. Scrolling through your socials and seeing everyone’s love posts can make you feel envious. Instead, this year, I want you to direct the love you would give to another person to yourself instead. It’s easy to get caught up in the mindset of “why not me” but “when will it be my turn,” I completely relate to that. What looks like a perfect situation is not always as it seems. Focus on you and your own journey!

Prioritize Your Mental and Physical Health:

Self-love means taking care of your temple – both the mind and the body. Start with nourishing your body with foods that make you feel good and give you energy. Don’t restrict yourself, I think we should give our body what it’s craving. Then, get that heart pumping – dance like nobody’s watching, take a brisk walk, or do whatever makes you feel good. Don’t forget to give your brain some TLC, too. Practice self-compassion, speak kindly to yourself, and do a digital detox. Your mind will thank you.

Sleep – Yes, It’s That Important:

In the hustle and bustle of life, sleep often takes a backseat, but it’s the secret sauce to feeling great. This Valentine’s, make a date with your bed. Create a cozy, serene sleeping environment, and give yourself permission to rest. A good night’s sleep can make you feel like a million bucks, and you deserve to feel that way every Day. Don’t be stingy either; I want to see 9 hours in the log!

Dive into Hobbies:

Remember those things you love doing but never have time for? Well, it’s time to make time. Whether it’s painting, cooking, coding, or underwater basket weaving, hobbies are a fantastic way to show yourself some love. They’re not just fun; they’re a form of self-expression and a great way to de-stress. So, this Valentine’s, get lost in doing something you love just for the sheer joy of it. I’ll be tackling an adorable (but complex) Lego bouquet.

Mindfulness: Be Here Now:

Lastly, practice mindfulness. In a world that’s always go, go, go, it’s essential to pause and just be. Mindfulness can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths, enjoying the warmth of your morning coffee, or feeling the sun on your face. It’s about being present and savouring the moment. This Valentine’s Day, give yourself the gift of the present because that’s where life’s little joys are genuinely found.
