Sport Chek has managed to create the most digitally advanced store in Canada – and the grand opening is on Saturday, April 6th.

The store has been quietly open for the last few weeks, and I went to check it out last weekend. Matt Lappin-Fortin, the general manager at the new Yonge Street location in Toronto, gave me the full tour. I have to say, I was impressed!

Even from the outside, you can tell that the two-story Sport Chek is going to give you a new kind of experience. With an overwhelming banner of screens facing the street from the top floor (which Matt is hoping will broadcast sports games live later on), along with endless tablets next most of the merchandise, it took me a minute to realize I could actually interact with every inch of the store; there are over 140 digital displays!

I designed our very own jersey to celebrate 20 years of SPC Card!

In honour of the Blue Jays’ home opener last night, I designed a jersey to celebrate 20 years of SPC Card.

There are enormous screens inside that you can use to explore soccer shoes and watch videos, along with a pretty fun Nike “VJ interactive experience” where you can create art and music by moving around shoes in front of a motion-sensor screen. I don’t know if that explains it, so hopefully you can try it and see for yourself! One of my favourite things? A screen that’s all about the athletic community near the store, showing everything from pictures of local sports teams to a schedule of classes at neighbourhood gyms, studios and more.

Beyond the interactive elements, you can get the kind of personalized treatment that I imagine Olympic athletes receive. There’s a treadmill that, along with an advanced computer system, picks your perfect shoe based on the way you run. You can use a digital kiosk to design your own Oakley shades that are assembled while you wait. And you can seriously customize a pair of Reebok shoes with all the colours of the rainbow; I had fun creating a particularly heinous pair on the computer that would definitely have people asking where I got them (although maybe not for the right reasons).

I only hope we get to see more stores like these open up around the country!

If you’re in the neighbourhood, which is precisely at 2529 Yonge Street, here are a few of the things you can expect at the grand opening on Saturday from 9am to 9pm:

  • If you’re one of the first 50 in line you, could win a Sport Chek Promo Card worth up to $2500.
  • 25% off the ticket price excluding items that are already marked down
  • Save 50% to 70% off regular priced footwear, apparel and equipment, while supplies last.

*Note that, with such deep discounts, you may not be able to use your SPC Card at this event.

  43. Oh my goodness! Impressive article dude! Many thanks, However I am experiencing problems with your RSS. I don’t understand the reason why I cannot subscribe to it. Is there anybody having similar RSS issues? Anyone that knows the answer can you kindly respond? Thanks!!

  44. Thanks for your write-up. Another issue is that just being a photographer involves not only problem in capturing award-winning photographs but in addition hardships in getting the best dslr camera suited to your needs and most especially problems in maintaining the quality of your camera. This really is very accurate and apparent for those photography addicts that are in to capturing the particular nature’s exciting scenes — the mountains, the forests, the actual wild or even the seas. Going to these exciting places surely requires a digicam that can surpass the wild’s hard conditions.

  45. Thanks for lotopyeer this glorious article. One other thing is that many digital cameras are available equipped with a zoom lens that enables more or less of any scene to generally be included by means of ‘zooming’ in and out. These changes in the aim length are reflected while in the viewfinder and on large display screen at the back of the actual camera.

  46. Howdy just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same results.

  47. It’s perfect time to make a few plans for the longer term and it is time to be happy. I’ve learn this submit and if I may just I want to recommend you few attention-grabbing things or advice. Perhaps you can write next articles regarding this article. I desire to read more things about it!

  49. Virtually all of the things you say happens to be astonishingly accurate and that makes me wonder why I hadn’t looked at this with this light before. This particular article really did turn the light on for me as far as this topic goes. But at this time there is 1 issue I am not too comfortable with so while I make an effort to reconcile that with the actual core idea of the issue, permit me observe what all the rest of the readers have to say.Very well done.

  50. Some tips i have observed in terms of computer memory is there are technical specs such as SDRAM, DDR and the like, that must fit in with the specific features of the motherboard. If the personal computer’s motherboard is reasonably current while there are no computer OS issues, improving the ram literally usually takes under a couple of hours. It’s among the list of easiest computer system upgrade methods one can visualize. Thanks for spreading your ideas.

  51. Great post made here. One thing I’d like to say is that most professional areas consider the Bachelors Degree like thejust like the entry level standard for an online diploma. Even though Associate Degrees are a great way to get started, completing your own Bachelors presents you with many opportunities to various professions, there are numerous online Bachelor Course Programs available coming from institutions like The University of Phoenix, Intercontinental University Online and Kaplan. Another concern is that many brick and mortar institutions give Online editions of their diplomas but generally for a substantially higher payment than the providers that specialize in online college degree plans.

  52. Thanks for your article. One other thing is that individual states in the United states of america have their particular laws that affect homeowners, which makes it extremely tough for the the legislature to come up with a new set of guidelines concerning foreclosed on people. The problem is that a state has own legislation which may have interaction in a negative manner on the subject of foreclosure plans.

  53. Oh my goodness! Awesome article dude! Thank you, However I am having difficulties with your RSS. I don’t know why I can’t join it. Is there anybody else having identical RSS issues? Anybody who knows the solution will you kindly respond? Thanx!!

  54. Every situation is unique and I help to train and rehibilitate 1000s of dogs (and their owners) every year! I am passionate about each individual dog that I see and I have a deep understanding for problem dogs and their psychology and behaviour.

  55. Just wish to say your article is as astonishing. The clearness in your post is simply spectacular and i can assume you’re an expert on this subject. Fine with your permission allow me to grab your RSS feed to keep updated with forthcoming post. Thanks a million and please continue the gratifying work.

  56. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

  57. Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Taking the time and actual effort to generate a really good article… but what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and don’t seem to get anything done.

  58. For instance , are you currently training flowing all-around by using an excessive amount to carry out, sense nervous and the there should not be sufficient time in every working day? As well as you actually training acceptance as well as alleviate, picking the actual circulation associated with working day, re-inifocing every thing takes place inside have excellent period? This is only one particular case in point; it is critical towards arise to sections of lifestyle wherever we have become in the repeated layout that they are as well as carrying out those ideas of which not provide people. Should they previously would!

  59. Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up lotopyeer. The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Chrome. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The style and design look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Many thanks
